We’re heading to DjangoCon EU 2023

2 mins read

People gather at DjangoCon EU from around the world to share their knowledge and experience, learn from each other, and have a great time. This year, we are hosting four live talks on a range of topics.

Handily for us, this time it's in bonnie Scotland!

DjangoCon2023

/

Below is a soupçon of the talks we have lined up:

Django Accessibility for Everyone

Lauren joined Torchbox in September last year as part of our academy programme, she has already spoken at Oxford Geek Night, and now makes her DjangoCon EU debut.

Lauren will share what we have learned working with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), rebuilding their website with Wagtail CMS and Django.

Best of both worlds: Next.js ❤️ Wagtail

Thibaud and Sage join forces to host a workshop on using Next.js with a Django/Wagtail API backend to make the most of both platforms.

They’ll teach you how to create sites that are both static and dynamic across different routes, rendered client-side and server-side, all with one framework.

Gender Bias in Tech: Examining Evolution & Persistence of Stereotypes

Ester will share that in the early days of computing, women were actually the dominant sex in programming and explore how this has changed and how gender bias has influenced the development of the tech industry as we know it today.

Use SQLite in production

Tom will state his case for why he believes SQLite is a good option for an app in production, despite the advice of the official Django documentation.

He’ll share why in many cases, SQLite is the fastest, cheapest, and most energy efficient database option available to Django developers.

Come and say hi

We're sponsors this year and will have a booth, so come and say hi and have a demo of Wagtail if you’re heading up to Edinburgh.
