My background is in social anthropology, which means I came to UX already fluent in the messy, human, socially complicated version of how things actually work for people.

Good research asks uncomfortable questions. It challenges what a team thinks it knows, reaches the people who are usually too hard to hear from and turns what it finds into something that actually changes decisions.

I've done that for Amnesty International UK, The National Archives, NASA JPL, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Mind and Oxfam, across discovery, in-person fieldwork, usability testing and strategic work that's shifted project scope, not just answered the brief.

I use AI in my research practice, carefully and critically. It extends what's possible. But when the stakes are people's access to healthcare, education or human rights, the judgement has to be human. I've been building that thinking into practical tooling too, including Sonar, an AI-moderated interview platform developed at Torchbox.

Outside of work, my life includes a never ending home renovation, a whippet, a few cats, oil paints everywhere and a lot of vegan food.

"Watching you in action is to witness a true expert at work. You have an incredible knack for empathising and instantly grasping the context of what participants are describing. The confidence I have as a result of your research is immense. " - Joe, Strategic Initiatives Lead, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People
