Introducing the Wagtail Knowledge Exchange

How it works

This isn't a webinar. It's a working session where you can bring unfinished thinking, ask questions, and have honest conversations with people facing similar challenges.

We're bringing together senior technical leads, product owners, and content people from organisations like yours.

Each session runs for one hour online, every other month, with a different topic each time. We'll kick off with short, informal demos from both you and the Wagtail core team, then spend most of the time in open discussion. Everything's under Chatham House rules, so you can speak freely without worrying about attribution.

Before each session, you can submit questions, volunteer to show something you're working on (doesn't need to be polished), and vote on what we discuss. The real value builds as you get to know each other across sessions.

Why we're doing this

The idea came from hosting NHS England at our Bristol office recently. We spent the day exploring what's next for their Wagtail platform, showing them new features, discussing workflow challenges, and looking at how other organisations are using Wagtail to solve similar problems.

What struck us was how energised the team became when they could see what other organisations were doing with Wagtail. We realised this kind of peer learning shouldn't be a one-off.

All our Wagtail clients are tackling similar challenges, workflow improvements, content governance, accessibility, search optimisation. Creating a regular space where you can learn from each other just makes sense.

First session: Wagtail AI

We're starting with Wagtail AI. It's on everyone's radar right now, but not many organisations are actually using it in their Wagtail sites yet. This session is your chance to see what's possible and figure out if it makes sense for you.

We'll demo the Wagtail AI package and show you what it can do – AI-suggested content, image alt text generation, page recommendations, and content feedback. It works with GPT, Claude, or open-source models.

Then we'll open it up for your questions (we're expecting plenty!). Whether you're exploring options, hitting challenges, or not sure where to start, this is the space to ask. Help shape where this goes next based on what actually matters for your organisation.

What's coming next

After Wagtail AI, we're planning sessions on topics like SEO and discoverability, content workflows, and accessibility. We'll ask you which topics matter most to your organisation, and shape the programme around what you actually need.

Each session will bring together organisations facing similar challenges, with demos from both the community and the Wagtail core team. The goal is to build relationships across sessions - this gets more valuable as you get to know the other organisations involved.
