Responding to Covid-19
We are making some changes due to Covid-19. As of tomorrow, we are advising all staff to work from home where possible (not because we've had a case, we haven't). Working from home isn't new – we have been working from home once a week for years – but being a wholly 'remote' company is. In preparation, and as part of our business continuity planning, we’ve been re-checking and improving our home working set-ups to ensure we can do a great job. We are very confident we can.
We are doing this for two reasons. One, we want to support our staff, many of whom are very concerned about Covid-19 and have advocated for this move. And two, as a company, we believe that the right thing is to help minimise the spread of the virus so that our health services can stay on top of it in a way that Italy has been struggling to do. Richard Horton, the editor-in-chief of The Lancet recently tweeted:
“The UK government—Matt Hancock and Boris Johnson—claim they are following the science. But that is not true. The evidence is clear. We need urgent implementation of social distancing and closure policies. The government is playing roulette with the public. This is a major error.”
As a company that is well positioned to act on this advice, we feel it is right to move early and show leadership.
Our policy also includes stopping non-essential travel for face to face meetings and cancelling the upcoming marketing and tech events that we host. We will conduct client meetings by video conference wherever possible. Working across three offices and with a partially remote team, video conferences are standard practice for us and many of our clients. However, over the last two months, we have invested more in our video conferencing capabilities and have tested that all staff can conduct high quality video conferences from home. We also run effective remote workshops.
Most of our clients have good video conferencing set-ups, but if anyone wants help or advice, we are ready to help.
We will do everything that we can to maintain the highest possible level of service. We hope that you will understand and support our decision.
