Preparing for the Peaks!
On the 14th of May, a group of Torchboxers, plus friends and family, will be getting up with the lark and embarking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
The route is 24 miles (38.6km) and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. Ok, it’s not the Montane Spine Race, James (CEO), but it’s a serious challenge for an ordinary mortal. We are doing it to have fun, get active, and spend time together, but we will also be raising funds for our charity of the year 1625 Independent People.
1625 is a charity that works with young people who are homeless, leaving care, or at risk of homelessness in the South West. They provide safe, stable accommodation and practical and emotional support to help these young people flourish and thrive as independent adults.
If you'd like to support this great cause and give our trekkers a boost, you can donate here.
Last weekend, as a trial run, a few of the team did a 14.5-mile hike in the Cotswolds, followed by a much-deserved meal at a local country pub as a reward to rest their weary feet.
We had two 13-year-olds who managed the whole thing and Beryl (the dog) on her little legs!
With a few more training walks, a bit of luck, and a following wind, we’ll all be celebrating in the Wheatsheaf in Ingleton by 6pm on the 14th May. If you’re in the area, come and join us for a celebratory pint!
