Accessibility statement
Our commitment
At Torchbox, we see accessibility as an essential part of responsible digital design and aim to make our website inclusive, usable and robust for a wide range of users and access needs.
What this website should allow you to do
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. In practice, this means you should be able to:
- Navigate most of the website using a keyboard
- Zoom in up to 400% using browser or device settings without loss of content or functionality
- Use screen readers and other assistive technologies to access the main content and navigation
- Use system colour, contrast and font settings, including high-contrast modes, without breaking the layout
Conformance status
The website aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Where possible, we also incorporate relevant AAA success criteria and practices that go beyond WCAG, such as support for Windows Contrast Themes.
Known limitations
While we aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA, we are aware of some accessibility limitations on torchbox.com. These include:
- Colour contrast issues in some components, particularly for icons, arrows and decorative elements across different themes and high contrast modes
- Focus states and focus management issues, including partially obscured focus indicators and inconsistent focus placement after interactions such as pagination and filtering
- Keyboard and interaction behaviour that may not always provide the most intuitive experience, particularly in more complex components such as tabs, carousels and listings
- Heading structure and semantic issues in isolated cases, which may affect how content is interpreted by assistive technologies
- Image alternative text issues, including missing, unclear or overly repetitive descriptions in a small number of cases
- Responsive and zoom-related layout issues, particularly at high zoom levels or smaller viewport sizes
- Motion and visual presentation issues, such as animations not fully respecting reduced motion preferences
- Screen reader usability issues in some components, including unexpected announcements or reading order that does not fully match the visual layout
These issues are generally limited in scope and are being addressed as part of ongoing improvements to the website.
How we tested this website
The site was last reviewed in 2026 using a combination of automated and manual testing.
Automated testing tools included:
- Accessibility Insights (Axe, Chrome)
- V.Nu HTML validator
Manual testing included:
- Keyboard navigation testing (Chrome)
- High contrast mode testing (Windows, Chrome)
- Full-page zoom and font-size zoom (Chrome)
- OS-level zoom (macOS)
- Screen reader testing (VoiceOver on macOS using Safari)
- Additional manual checks across a range of components and page types
We use both automated and manual testing, as automated tools alone can only identify a proportion of accessibility issues.
