Nick Smith
I have worked with Django since 2009, using it first to build a custom pupil skill tracking web app to support my job as a secondary school maths teacher. In 2013, I joined Torchbox to become a full time developer. Now I build bespoke web applications and CMSs, with particular interests in speedy database lookups, integrating 3rd party services, and real-time notifications and updates in the browser.
I have a particular interest in documentation, communication and improving processes. I enjoy training and mentoring others and releasing code as open source where it’s useful.
At Torchbox I have been working with Buckinghamshire County Council and Gosport Independent Panel where we customised the CMS for longform documents and footnotes as well as customised search and filtering.
I have a pilot’s licence, I am a moderately quick track cyclist, a moderately competitive photographer and a moderately decent trombone player. Now I’m a self proclaimed moderately competent husband and father of two.
Anagrams of my name include Nicholas Smith, NicholaS smith and tmcaNisl hohSi.
