Front-end Developer (Mid to Senior level)

Total remuneration package: £39,451 - £59,260 per annum, pro rata.**

We are looking for a Frontend Developer to join our team!

Torchbox is looking for a brilliant front end developer to work with our fantastic team on some of the most rewarding client projects that any right thinking, liberal minded, creative geek could hope for.

You'll need to be a fantastic CSS and JavaScript developer, and preferably have some experience in an agency environment. If you have experience with developing in React that would be an excellent bonus.

You'll be excited about creating great user experiences, and understand that web interfaces are as much about feel and reactiveness as they are about looks. And, you will enjoy working closely with the designers to create fantastic interfaces as part of a creative team.

What will you be doing day to day?

You'll be working as part of a close project team to produce web sites and digital products for our not-for-profit clients including charities, universities and government organisations. You’ll need to be flexible and adaptable, and confident in quickly getting up to speed with new codebases. You’ll relish the challenge of working on multiple projects with different tech stacks.

Our Frontend Developers have the following skills:

Essential

• Excellent, personable communication skills, both with your team and customers

• Ability to produce high quality work to tight deadlines

• Strong knowledge of HTML5, including WCAG/WAI issues

• Strong knowledge of CSS and SCSS

• Good knowledge of CSS methodologies, especially BEM, CSS Modules and CSS-in-JS

• Good ES6 Javascript skills, with some experience of React

• Strong knowledge of web standards, trends and patterns such as responsive/mobile-first design

• Good knowledge of Node-based tooling especially npm and Webpack

• You Lint all your code

• Good knowledge of Git

• Experience working with SVG

• Confidence using any CMS or template language

Desirable 

• You have experience of Storybook or other pattern libraries

• Experience following Agile methodologies

• You write tests with Jest

• You write object-oriented, modular Javascript that you unit test

• You've used Django or dabbled with Python

• You’ve used the Wagtail CMS

• Some experience with Docker

• A thorough knowledge of React development patterns

• Experience with state management libraries like Redux

• Experience with client-side routing

• Integration with REST & GraphQL APIs

**This is made up of a base salary £31,175 - £48,400 and a bonus of £8,276 - £10,860. The bonus comprises a (tax free!) £3.6k EOT bonus and a company performance bonus. The bonus is paid in two tranches. The company bonus can be higher or lower based on company performance.
